I have two more videos to post on the forms of the letters, but am having some bizarre web-cam problems.   After some quality phone time with Logitech, I have the problem fixed, so look for the new videos to go up in the morning.

On the way to New Orleans I stopped to visit Grandma Bloomenstiel at her retirement community in Baton Rouge.   While shaking hands with some of her friends, an elderly gentleman from Poland asked me in Yiddish if I was a sofer.  Surprised I replied “yes, how did you know?”  Still holding my hand, he flipped it over and pointed to the black stains on my third and fourth fingers.
