class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-416" src="http://www.ctc-torah.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/375-year-old-german-aleph.jpg" alt="375 year old german aleph" width="94" height="131" /></p><p>In this scroll, all of the Alephs were written like this.   There is a big difference between this Aleph and the  accepted way of writing Aleph.  Can you spot the problem?  Does it need to be corrected?</p><p>Here is the name Achashveyrosh &#8211; the Persian king of the Book of Esther.   Consider the Aleph which begins his name; is it Ksav Ari or Ksav Beis Yoseif?</p><p

The Torah scroll is written in a special script called <em>ksav ashuris. </em>Governed by a unique blend of Kabbala (Jewish mysticism) and Halacha (Jewish religious law), the form of each Hebrew letter in this special script communicates worlds of meaning in both the hidden and revealed realms.</p><p>These two videos are the first two in the series and serve to introduce some basic concepts.
